Knowledge Management
The KM philosophy behind ]project-open[
is that there is no single "Knowledge Management" application
or module, but that knowledge sharing should be built into all modules
of a Project-ERP system. There fore KM in ]project-open[
is represented by a number of modules and certain "features":
The obvious KM packages:
- Wiki:
Wiki pages can be attached to Projects, Customer, Users, Offices
etc. A Wiki is a kind of Content Management System (CMS) with
very low barriers for users to create an edit contents.
- Discussion Forums:
Discussion forums can be attached to Projects, Customers, Users
(employees, freelancers, customer contacts), Offices etc.
- Shared Filestorage:
A basic but important module to allow project team members to
share their files.
- Search Engine:
A sophisticated search engine allows all users to search though
all contents in ]project-open[,
according to the users access permissions. Indexed contents include
names, descriptions and files related to Projects, Customers and
User.
- Expert Finder:
Is a variant of a search engine that returns users instead of
documents.
Features of other modules that improve knowledge sharing:
- Portraits:
Shows the photo of a random
person at the home page of ]project-open[,
allowing members of distributed offices to get to know each other
- Company News:
A module to publish company
news to all company members.
- Incident Management:
... consists of a workflow to resolve customer
incidents (customer management) etc. However, resolved incidents
are indexed by the search engine, allowing users to search for
solutions to previously occured issues.
