The "Package Manager" list page is an OpenACS administration page. From this page Administrators can selectively enable and disable packages and their functionality. The most important services the "Package Manager" offers are;
Keep in mind that while the install of packages is relatively risk free (the server will automatically restart and become unavailable for a short period of time after install of a package, 1-3 minutes), the uninstall of packages should be done cautiously and conscientiously by an experienced administrator if you do not wish to lose data, have a system crash due to the complex dependencies between packages.
To install an available package, go to the bottom of the Package Manager page where there is a link "Install Packages" which redirects to a page with all the available but not yet installed packages. Select the desired packages and follow the steps towards completion. Alternative access "/your server here/acs-admin/apm/packages-install".
Clicking on either the "Key" or "Name" of a package while viewing all the installed packages on the central Package Manager page will link to a page giving more detailed information about the chosen package. On this page, towards the bottom are options for "Disable/Uninstall". Click on the desired option and follow the presented steps.
At the bottom of the Package Manager menu page, click on the "Create a new package" option which will link you to a new page with a form to fill in the new package details.
At the bottom of the Package Manager menu page, click on the option "Load a new package from a URL or Local Directory" and you will be presented a new screen prompting you for the URL path or the local directory path.
